Bern, Switzerland: Fulham midfielder Pajtim Kasami has been called into Switzerland's squad for two World Cup qualifying matches.
Kasami has opted for the Swiss senior national team despite also being eligible to represent Albania, which it faces on Friday in Tirana.
The Swiss Football Association says coach Ottmar Hitzfeld has selected the 21-year-old Kasami as a precaution because right back Stephan Lichtsteiner has a thigh injury.
Switzerland, which needs two points to secure its World Cup place in Brazil, also hosts Slovenia next Tuesday.
Kasami played in Switzerland's winning team at the Under-17 World Cup in 2009, and at the 2012 Olympics.
