Berlin, Mar 16: Ivica Olic scored for Wolfsburg to salvage a 1-1 draw at home with promoted side Fortuna Duesseldorf in the Bundesliga on Friday.

Olic struck with a low shot past Fabian Giefer in the 51st minute, cancelling out Mathis Bolly's 38th-minute strike against the run of play for the visitors.

Wolfsburg remains 12th ahead of the rest of the weekend's games, while Duesseldorf climbs two places to 13th.

“I think the draw was fair. With a bit of luck we could have won, with a little bad luck we could have lost,” said Duesseldorf midfielder Adam Bodzek. “Every point is important for us. We're fighting for Bundesliga survival.”

Wolfsburg coach Dieter Hecking gave Yohandry Orozco a rare start in place of the suspended Diego, and he capped an impressive performance with the assist for Olic.

Axel Bellinghausen and Robbie Kruse combined on the right to set Bolly up for his second Bundesliga goal since the Norwegian's winter switch from Lillestrom.

The home side dominated the first half, with eight shots on goal compared to Duesseldorf's one, and 71 percent of the possession.

“You could see that we missed a player like Diego,” said Wolfsburg manager Klaus Allofs. “We played well up as far as the goal but we didn't score it then.”

Both sides hit the post in either half through long-range efforts from Wolfsburg defender Ricardo Rodriguez and then Robert Tesche after Olic's equalizer.

Wolfsburg goalkeeper Diego Benaglio denied Dani Schahin a late winner from close range.
