Glasgow, Scotland, Mar 23 : Wales scored twice in three second-half minutes to secure a 2-1 comeback win over Scotland in World Cup qualifying on Friday, keeping alive its faint hopes of reaching next year's finals in Brazil.
Scotland looked set to climb off the bottom of Group A and above its British rival when Grant Hanley beat his marker at a corner to plant a firm header low into the net on the stroke of halftime.
Wales' hopes took a further blow when star winger Gareth Bale failed to appear for the second half because of a stomach virus, but Scotland midfielder Robert Snodgrass's 71st-minute sending-off for a second yellow card allowed the visitors to seize the initiative.
Aaron Ramsey converted the resulting penalty and Hal Robson-Kanu headed in about two minutes later.
Wales midfielder Ramsey was sent off deep into injury time for two bookings.
Bale confirmed on Twitter that he should be fit to play in the qualifier against Croatia in Cardiff on Tuesday, where Wales will go looking for a victory to trim the gap to the second-place visitors to four points. The Welsh are currently third on six points.
