London, Nov 27: The Football Association of Wales says national team manager Gary Speed has died at the age of 42.
The organization announced Speed's death on its website but did not immediately give the cause.
The FAW says “we ask that everyone respects the family's privacy at this very sad time.”
In a 20-year playing career, Speed won the English league championship with Leeds in 1992 and also played for Newcastle, Everton, Bolton and Sheffield United.
Speed started his coaching career with Sheffield United last year and only took over the Wales team in December.
