Porto, Portugal:  Arda Turan scored the winner four minutes from time as Atletico Madrid rallied to beat FC Porto 2-1 in the Champions League on Tuesday.

The result sent the Spanish club to the top of Group G on six points, three clear of Porto. Zenit St. Petersburg and Austria Vienna drew 0-0 in the other group game and have one point each.

Atletico is unbeaten in official games this season and defeated Real Madrid in the Spanish league last weekend. But it was tested by two-time European champion Porto's powerful first-half performance, with Jackson Martinez scoring from a diving header in the 16th.

Gabi set up both Atletico's second-half goals. Diego Godin headed home Gabi's 58th-minute free kick as Porto goalkeeper Helton failed to grab the high ball. Gabi tapped his late free kick from the edge of the area to Turkish midfielder Turan, who got behind the Porto defense and blasted his shot past Helton from close range.

Diego Simeone's Atletico lineup was weakened by the absence of top strikers Diego Costa, banned from last season, and Adrian Lopez, who is recovering from facial surgery.

It also faced a Portuguese team with an 18-year pedigree in the competition.

Porto had Atletico in trouble early, with Martinez almost capitalizing on the pressure with a 10th-minute header. The Colombian set up Lucho for a volley on edge of the area a few minutes later but the Argentine midfielder's shot flew over the bar.

A 40th-minute corner set up Raul Garcia for a glancing header that hit the Porto woodwork.

Simeone took David Villa off at halftime, replacing him with the more muscular Cristian Rodriguez.

Luis Filipe's deflected shot scraped the post in the 53rd as Atletico pressed forward

Helton redeemed himself in the 76th when he saved with his feet from Raul Garcia's point-blank shot.
