Sydney, Oct 11: Sydney FC striker Mark Bridge has been suspended for two A-League matches after receiving a red card for an altercation with Melbourne Victory defender Rodrigo Vargas on Saturday.
Football Federation Australia said Monday that its match review panel found Bridge “committed the offense of assault on a player—violent conduct when not challenging for the ball”—against Vargas at the 75-minute mark of the scoreless draw at Melbourne.
Bridge and Sydney FC decided Tuesday not to appeal the two-match ban. He'll miss Sydney's home opener Saturday against the defending champion Brisbane Roar and an Oct. 22 match in Adelaide. AP
