Singapore, May 24: Singapore has charged two Malaysians with conspiring to fix the result of a Malaysian Super League football game.

The Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau said in a statement Thursday that referee Shokri Nor and former player Thana Segar agreed to receive a bribe of 15,000 ringgit ($4,770) each to fix the May 22 match between Singapore's Lions XII and Sarawak FA in Singapore.

CPIB said Nor was scheduled to officiate the game but was arrested and replaced the day of the match when police learned of the plot.

If found guilty, the men face a fine of up to SG$100,000 ($78,300) or a maximum jail term of five years, or both.
