Toronto, Aug 8: Miralem Pjanic scored twice and Alessandro Florenzi added one goal and set up another as Roma downed Toronto FC 4-1 in a friendly Wednesday.
Pjanic, a first-half substitute bent in a free kick in the 67th minute to make it 3-1, then extended the lead to 4-1 in the 87th after stealing the ball, wrong footing goalkeeper Quillan Roberts and backheeling a shot home.
Toronto opened the scoring against the run of play on a 15th-minute after an own goal by Roma captain Nicolas Burdisso. Then Roma took charge.
Roma's stars—Francesco Totti, Daniele De Rossi and newcomer Kevin Strootman—either came in late or watched the victory.
