Paris, May 26: Forward Loic Remy has pulled out of France's provisional European Championship squad after failing to recover from a hamstring tear.
Remy sustained the injury playing for Marseille two weeks ago, but coach Laurent Blanc still called him up in the hope he would recover.
Despite the national team's medical staff giving him intensive treatment, Remy left the squad late last night, the French Football Federation said on its website.
The versatile Remy, who can play wide right, has scored four goals in 17 games for France.
His absence will be another blow to Blanc, who is already without defenders Bacary Sagna and Eric Abidal, and midfielder Abou Diaby, due to injury and illness.
France plays Iceland in its first Euro 2012 warmup match on Sunday.
