Foxborough, Massachussets, Oct 25: Former Liverpool defender Steve Nicol has stepped down as coach of the New England Revolution after 10 years.
Nicol was the longest-serving coach in Major League Soccer history. He had taken charge of 301 games.
Nicol took the Revolution to the Eastern Conference championship game six straight years from 2002-07, winning four of them to advance to the MLS Cup. But the Revs never won the title and they haven't made the playoffs in the past two years.
He left the club by mutual consent on Monday.
