Sao Paulo: Barcelona striker Neymar injured his hip while training with Brazil but should recover in time to play in the friendly against South Korea on Saturday.

Neymar was hurt after a challenge by Lazio midfielder Hernanes in Seoul on Thursday. He stayed on the ground as doctors rushed to him but walked off the field on his own, although visibly in pain and limping as he was taken to the locker room.

Neymar was initially listed as doubtful as doctors re-evaluated the injury, but the Brazilian football federation said later the 21-year-old striker was expected to be available to play on Saturday. Brazil doctor Edilson Thiele said Neymar will go through a final test on Friday.

Neymar was being treated with ice and was likely to miss a few training sessions because of the injury.

He was making a run with the ball near midfield when he was bumped by Hernanes, who was rushing from behind to try to steal the ball. Neymar fell hard, in pain. He tried to continue playing but couldn't do it.

Signed by Barcelona just a few months ago, Neymar has never missed a Brazil game because of injury. He is touted as the player carrying Brazil's hopes in the World Cup.

Neymar was replaced by Zenit forward Hulk, who was a starter during the Confederations Cup title run this year.

Coach Luiz Felipe Scolari said he would announce his starting lineup only just before the match. Brazil's final practice will be at the World Cup Stadium on Friday.

Scolari also included Chelsea midfielders Oscar and Ramires in the team which is expected to start. Atletico Mineiro forward Jo is likely to play alongside Neymar up front.

Brazil will also play Zambia in Beijing on Tuesday.

After that, the five-time world champions will play only three more friendlies before Scolari picks the 23 players for the World Cup at home. As host, Brazil is already guaranteed a spot.
