Seattle, Aug 28: Lamar Neagle scored his first hat trick as the Seattle Sounders beat the Columbus Crew 6-2 in Major League Soccer on Saturday.


Neagle scored twice during a four-goal first-half for the Sounders and completed the hat trick in the 70th minute when a shot from the top of the area bounced off the crossbar and dropped behind the goal line.

Seattle's offensive outburst overshadowed what also became a record-breaking day for Columbus forward Jeff Cunningham, who became the leading goal-scorer in MLS history when he converted a penalty in the 59th minute for his 134th goal. The previous mark was set by Jaime Moreno.

In other matches the Vancouver Whitecaps beat Houston Dynamo 1-0, the Chicago Fire downed the Colorado Rapids 2-0, FC Dallas edged Sporting Kansas City 3-2, Real Salt Lake beat Chivas USA 1-0 and thr San Jose Earthquakes drew Toronto FC 1-1.

The match between Portland and D.C. United at Washington D.C. was postponed due to the effects of Hurricane Eileen.

Shea Salinas scored in the 86th minute to give Vancouver a home win after taking a short pass from midfielder Long Tan and beating Houston keeper Tally Hall with a low, hard shot.

The win was just the fourth of the season for the Whitecaps, who are playing in their first MLS seaon. All Vancouver's victories have come at home.

Chris Wondolowski scored in the 87th minute to lift San Jose to the draw at Toronto.

The San Jose forward knocked in a ball headed back from a throw-in, securing a point for the slumping Earthquakes. San Jose also extended its winless streak to 13 games.

Eric Avila scored in the 33rd minute to give Toronto a lead that looked like it would last.

Dominic Oduro and Cory Gibbs scored in the first half as Chicago beat Colorado.

Oduro scored his ninth goal of the season after winning a fight for the ball following a 60-yard pass from Pavel Pardo in the 17th minute. Oduro beat Colorado keeper Matt Pickens with a low shot for his fourth goal in five matches.

The Fire made it 2-0 in the 35th minute when Gibbs snuck into the box and redirected midfielder Sebastian Grazzini's deep-angle pass from the left side behind Pickens.

Bobby Warshaw scored his first MLS goal in the second minute of stoppage time to FC Dallas a win at Kansas City.

Warshaw's header, off a Brek Shea pass broke a three-match winless streak for Dallas.

Sporting led 2-0 after Omar Bravo's goal in the 68th minute, but Daniel Hernandez scored from a free kick in the 70th and Maicon Santos headed in an equalizer in the 88th.

Kei Kamara opened the scoring for Kansas City in the 22nd minute, and Bravo doubled that lead before Dallas rallied.

Bunbury was sent off in the 76th minute, after being shown his second yellow card for a foul on Jair Benitez.

Alvaro Saborio scored in the 10th minute as a 10-man Salt Lake held on to be Chivas USA.

The Costa Rican swooped in to score after a failed pass back by Ante Jazic to defender David Junior Lopes.

Nat Borchers was sent off in the 67th minute for bringing down Chivas USA midfielder Nick LaBrocca in the box. AP
