LONDON: English football matches will start seven minutes later than scheduled over the weekend of April 11-14 to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster.
The FA Cup semifinal match on April 15, 1989, between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest was called off at 3:06 p.m. because supporters were being crushed in the stands. Ninety-six people were killed.
The Premier League, Football League, Football Conference and FA Cup matches due to start at 3 p.m. will be delayed for six minutes and then begin at 3:07 p.m. following a minute's silence.
Matches scheduled to start at other times on the 11th, 12th, 13th and 14th will also observe the mark of respect.
