Shillong, Dec 22: Langsning Football Club (LFC) defeated Arhima Football Club (AFC) 5-3 in a tie-breaker to lift the 22nd All India Meghalaya Invitation Football Tournament for the first time.
Langsning FC dominated the first half of the game after they scored first goal in the 17th minute through Joel Sunday.
Arhima FC pressed hard in the second half of the match and restored parity in the 60th minute as substitute Bikai Jairu chipped the ball to Babatunde Oyomide Badmus who headed home.
An half-an-hour extra time did not yield any results to both the teams and the winners had to be decided by the tie-breaker.
Langsning's Tharangachan Tungsang, Malsoma Changte, Ho Jun Shin and Zothan Zanga scored in the tie-breaker to seal the final 5-3.
Arhima's Babatunde Oyomide Badmus and Bikash Jairu managed to score while Dapbor Bareh and Restum Khriam missed their targets.
Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister Bindo M Lanong handed over the trophy and a cheque of Rs 1.5 lakh to the winners and Rs 75,000 to the runners-up.
