New Delhi: The pursuit to salvage pride will continue for Delhi Dynamos when they lock horns with Mumbai City FC, who would be looking to regain lost ground in the Indian Super League (ISL) football tournament here Friday.
Though they are returning home on the back of a away win in Guwahati, Delhi Dynamos' chances of making the semifinals in the inaugural edition of the league are all but over after a string of disappointing results.
The hosts are placed precariously at seventh position with just a couple of wins to show for in the eight-team tournament.
The visitors are in a slightly better situation, sitting sixth after winning three matches in their 10 appearances so far. Mumbai City FC though, have equal number of victories as FC Goa and FC Pune, the two teams placed fourth and fifth respectively in the table on better goal difference.
While the Dynamos had beaten NorthEast United FC 2-1 in their last match, the Mumbai side will have to pull up their socks having suffered a 0-3 thrashing at the hands of Chennaiyin FC in their most recent outing.
While they struggled for a major part of the tournament with their strikers rarely threatening the rival defence, for Delhi Dynamos, who will be playing their last home match after this on December 2, it will a chance to finish their campaign with a flourish.
The likes of Alessandro Del Piero, Hans Muldher, Gustavo dos Santos, Morten Skoubo and Steven Dias among others will look to leave one last impression as far as the first edition of the tournament is concerned.
Gustavo dos Santos and Mulder, who had scored in the last 2-1 win, would look to add to their tally. Dynamos also know that they fought hard after being reduced to 10 men as midfielder Shouvik Ghosh was shown second yellow card during additional time of the first half.
