Kolkata: The Chennai ISL franchisee would be soon be officially unveiled as 'Chennians FC', according to a team insider.
"The owners want to give a name which would have a feel of the city. The team is awaiting the arrival of its marquee manager-cum-player Marco Materazzi. Maybe after he joins the squad, we will have a grand unveiling," the team official told PTI.
The team also has the likes of promising India forward Jeje Lalpekhula, Gourmangi Singh and Harmanjot Khabra.
The ISL team which is also speculated to be called as 'Chennai Titans' has began its training at the Karnataka State Football ground in Bangalore yesterday under assistant coach Vivek Nagul, an AFC A and UEFA A (part one) licence holder who was previously with Tanzanian Premier League champions club
Azam FC.
Co-owned by Bollywood star Abhishek Bachchan, the Chennai outfit came into existence after the original ISL Bangalore franchise owned by Sun Group pulled out of the inaugural edition of the upcoming franchisee league slated for an October 12 kickoff in here.
