Manchester, England: England defender Phil Jones could be a doubt for the World Cup after being hospitalized with a left shoulder injury sustained in Manchester United's 3-1 win over Hull in the Premier League.
The 22-year-old Jones was injured in an aerial collision with Hull defender Maynor Figueroa at a corner in the first half of Tuesday's match at Old Trafford.
He left the pitch wincing with pain and was taken straight to hospital.
Interim United manager Ryan Giggs says "just by his reaction, he knew he had done something and he wanted to come off. Usually, as a player, you know that something is not great when you do that."
Jones, capped nine times by England, was expected to be included in the 23-man squad for the World Cup in Brazil.
