Madrid, Jan 1: Former Arsenal midfielder Jose Antonio Reyes has reportedly asked new Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone to allow him to return home to former club Sevilla.
Reyes, who left Sevilla in 2004 in a deal that cost Arsenal about ¤30 million ($39 million), has found playing time waning this season after having helped Atletico to Europa League and European Super Cup triumphs in 2010.
Reyes tells sports daily AS on Sunday that “I have spoken to Diego Simeone and asked him to facilitate my move to Sevilla.”
The former Real Madrid and Benfica player says his father's recent surgery has pushed him to make a move back to his native city, saying “the option is on the table and it may not appear again in the future so you have to take advantage of it.”
