Time up for Iker Casillas:

The footballer who has been affected the most by the thrilling encounter between the dutch and the Spanish is none other than the Spanish goalie Iker Casillas . Before the start of the match he had wonderful record of not conceding a goal for more than 400 minutes in world cup but it was shattered by some classy attacks from the Dutch strikers

 Astonishing individual performance:

The Spanish team was considered to be one of the most balanced sides coming into this tournament and they had showed the signs of it in the initial 40 minutes of the match but after that it was completely individual brilliance of some of the Dutch players
Spain lost their shape and lost their way in the second half. Four of the five Dutch goals were a result of individual brilliance, with either Robben or Van Persie making the most of their chances.

Referee, setting poor standards:

FIFA would definitely be concerned by the poor level of referring in the matches in the world cup. Starting from the opening matches the referees are under strict scrutiny for making some decisions which should not have been made.    The game between Netherlands and Spain was no different. From Diego Costa's blatant dive resulting in a Spain getting the penalty that resulted in their opening goal to Costa not being sent off for a head butt on Bruno Martins Indi, the Italian referee missed quite a few important decisions.
