Cape Town, Jan 27: Cote d'Ivoire dimmed Tunisia's hopes of advancing in the 2013 African Cup of Nations (Afcon) after a thumping 3-0 victory.
Gervinho opened the score for Cote d'Ivoire in the 21st minute after his shot finished in the top right corner of the Tunisian goal Saturday, reports Xinhua.
Yaya Toure doubled the score in the 87th minute and three minutes later Ya Konan completed the rout with a long distance strike which left the Tunisian goalkeeper helpless.
Tunisia missed a clear chance to get a goal back when Saber Khelifa failed to score in the 85th minute.
Tunisia, who won 1-0 against Algeria in their first match, now need a win against Togo to reach the quarter-finals. Cote d'Ivoire are now almost certain to qualify for
the next round after defeating Togo 2-1 earlier this week.
