London: Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is concerned about Diego Costa's fitness, but he's powerless to stop the striker playing for Spain next month.
Costa is unable to play more than one match a week since injuring a hamstring in his left thigh while on international duty this month. So Costa's unlikely to play against Sporting Lisbon in the Champions League on Tuesday after starting against Aston Villa on Saturday.
After a London derby against Arsenal on Oct. 5, Costa is likely to be heading off to play for Spain against Slovakia on Oct. 9 and Luxembourg on Oct. 12. That's unless Chelsea medics can show Costa is unable to play.
Mourinho says, "it's completely out of my control. Everybody knows that Diego is in trouble for quite a long time."
