Miami, Jun 11: Carlos Costly scored a hat trick and Jerry Bengston found the net twice as Honduras thrashed Grenada 7-1 Friday in Group B of the Gold Cup.
Clive Murray put Grenada ahead in the 19th minute before Honduras scored three goals in 11 minutes.
Bengston equalized in the 26th minute and Costly put Honduras ahead two minutes later. Bengston's second goal made it 3-1 in the 37th minute.
Costly turned the match into a rout with goals in the 67th and 72nd minutes. Walter Martinez scored with two minutes remaining in regulation and Alfredo Mejia scored Honduras' final goal in stoppage time.
The third and final Group B matches will be played Monday when Honduras faces group leader Jamaica, while Grenada takes on Guatemala.Jamaica booked its spot in the Gold Cup quarterfinals Friday.
Demar Phillips scored two goals in 13 minutes of the second half to lift Jamaica to a 2-0 win over Guatemala and advance to the next round. AP
