Bulgaria, May 8: Lokomotiv Plovdiv midfielder Dakson da Silva has tested positive for methylprednisolone, an anti-inflammatory drug.

Da Silva, a Brazilian, was tested after a 1-0 win over Litex Lovech in the Bulgarian Cup semifinals last month. The 24-year-old player could face a ban of up to two years from the Bulgarian Olympic Committee disciplinary commission.

However, club manager Atanas Uzunov doubted on Tuesday that da Silva will be banned because the substance was not banned but anti-doping authorities should be notified in advance that it will be used.

"I believe that Dakson will not be punished," Uzunov said. "He will be suspended, however, until the commission announces its decision."
