Buenos Aires, Argentina, Sept 19: Boca Juniors defeated Lanus 2-1 on Sunday to take sole possession of first place in Argentina's Apertura tournament.
Walter Erviti scored the deciding goal on a header from a free kick in the 62nd minute. Lucas Viatri gave Boca a 1-0 lead in the sixth, but Lanus equalized with an own goal in the 46th by Boca defender Juan Insaurralde.
Boca Juniors have 17 points in seven matches, one ahead of newly promoted Atletico Rafaela.
In other matches on Sunday: Newell's 1, Velez 1; Estudiantes 4, Argentinos Juniors 3; and Union 1, Racing 1.
Boca took a 1-0 lead in the sixth minute after dominating early. Viatri volleyed in a shot from the left side following a corner from Juan Roman Riquelme.
Boca should have led 2-0 in the 44th when Riquelme faced a wide-open net from six meters, but shot wide.
Lanus leveled in the 46th after an own-goal by Boca defender Insaurralde, setting the stage for Erviti's winning header.
In other seventh-round scores Friday and Saturday it was: Independiente 0, Colon 1; Olimpo 2, Godoy Cruz 2; San Martin 0, Belgrano 1; Tigre 2, Arsenal 2; All Boys 0, Banfield 1; San Lorenzo 1, Atletico Rafaela 3.
Federico Higuain scored in the 16th minute in Colon's victory against Independiente.
Nicolas Sanchez and Leandro Caruso scored for Godoy Cruz. Olimpo got on the board with Julio Cesar Furch's goal and also got an own goal from Godoy Cruz.
Enrique Bologna equalized for Union in the 67th. Racing took a 1-0 lead with Giovanni Moreno's 10th-minute goal.
Claudio Perez's 82nd-minute strike was the winner for Belgrano.
Guillermo Burdisso scored the equalizer for Arsenal in the 84th on Saturday. Arsenal took a 1-0 lead after Emilio Zelaya's 32nd-minute goal with Tigres getting second-half goals from Diego Morales and Mariano Echeverria.
Juan Eluchans scored for Banfield in the 68th. It was Banfield's first victory after losses in its first six matches.
Dario Gandin, Federico Gonzalez and Nicolas Castro scored in the second half to give Atletico Rafaela a win over San Lorenzo. Sebastian found the net for San Lorenzo.
Gabriel Mercado scored two for Estudiantes, including the winner in the 86th against Argentinos Juniors. Guido Carrillo and Mauro Fernandez also scored. Argentinos' three goals were by Santiago Salcedo, Pablo Barzola and Leandro Barrera.
It was Estudiantes first victory after only two draws in their first six matches.
