Buenos Aires, Argentina, Nov 28 : Boca Juniors defeated Godoy Cruz 2-1 on Sunday to move just one win away from the Argentine Apertura championship with three full rounds of matches still to play.
Boca needs to win only one point from the remaining three matches to guarantee itself the title, its first since 2008.
Boca has 36 points from 16 matches ahead of Tigre on 27. Racing Club, Velez and Colon have 25 points and have been eliminated.
In other Sunday matches it was: Estudiantes 2, Arsenal 1; Velez 1, Colon 1; Banfield 2, Argentinos Juniors 2.
Dario Cvitanich opened the scoring for Boca in the ninth minute and Rolando Schiavi converted a penalty in the 37th. Ariel Rojas scored for Godoy Cruz in second-half injury time.
Tigre defeated Atletico Rafaeal 3-0 on Friday to stay in mathematical contention.
In Saturday matches: Belgrano de Cordoba defeated Racing 3-2, San Martin beat Olimpo 3-0, Newell's Old Boys drew 0-0 with San Lorenzo and All Boys drew 0-0 against Lanus.
