New Delhi, Jan 10: Delhi's former international player Anadi Barua was here Thursday appointed chief coach of the Indian women's national football team.
All India Football Federation (AIFF) vice-president Subash Chopra welcomed his appointment.
Barua, a FIFA diploma holder from Brazil 1995, has been given the charge of the women's team for the coming friendly matches against The Netherlands.
This is for the first time a coach from the national capital will be the chief coach of any national team. Barua is also an Under-11, 12, 14, 16, 21 and Santosh Trophy AIFF-appointed selector. He has also been the coach of Delhi for Santosh Trophy.
Barua also represented India in Nehru Gold Cup. He represented Delhi for seven years in Santosh Trophy. He was also awarded the best player in Subroto Cup in 1980.
The camp for the friendly against the Dutch started Wednesday at Kolhapur. The first match between the India and the Netherlands will be Jan 17 followed by the second match Jan 20 in Mumbai.
