Pep Guardiola's expenditure finally paid off when Manchester City hammered Real Madrid in the pre-season tour by 4-1. The men in blue dazzled around the Madrid defense to create an innumerable amount of chances that were pocketed in the back of the net by Raheem Sterling, Nicolas Otamendi, John Stones and 17-year old Brahim Diaz. With Kevin De Bruyne's perfect assist and through balls, Guardiola's men have finally ensured victory over the Los Blancos.
The last time these two teams met was when Madrid knocked City out of the Champions league in 2015-16 in the semi-final stage. Real Madrid won the Champions League that year and added another consecutive title this year as well.
Guardiola would be extremely happy that his men were able to hand a loss to Zidane's men as they lost to Manchester United as well on penalties.
Pep Guardiola has spent over 200 Million Euros this season and it doesn't stop there for the former Bayern Munich and Barcelona manager. Missing out on the chance to equip Dani Alves to his squad, despite the fact that Pep and Dani have worked together in FC Barcelona, Pep has added defensive players to his squad which has strengthened the back four.
Manchester City have been on a spending spree this year as they brought in Goalkeeper Ederson Moraes from Benfica, defenders Kyle Walker from Tottenham Hotspurs, Danilo from Real Madrid and Benjamin Mendy from Monaco and midfielder Bernardo Silva from Monaco.
Danilo made his debut for the club as a substitute against his former club Real Madrid who offloaded the player as he wasn't a part of Zidane's plan. Danilo eventually happened to be on the winning side as City thrashed Real Madrid.
Manchester City will next play BPL rivals Tottenham Hotspurs on July 30 for the Champion Cup Round-1 in the USA while Real Madrid take on La Liga rivals FC Barcelona. The El Classico will happen in North America as well where the biggest rivals in history collide on foreign soil on July 30 for the Champions Cup Round-1.
