Former Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic voices his opinion on the Red Devil's latest acquisition Alexis Sanchez who moved from the Emirates to Old Trafford in the winter transfer window in a swap deal that saw Armenian winger Henikh Mhkitaryan go the other way.
The former Serbian International feels that the Chilean will play an important role in United's chase for the UEFA Champions League trophy as the Jose Mourinho coached Red Devils recently drew Sevilla in the first leg of the round of 16 qualification match which saw goalkeeper David de Gea saving United from an attacking Sevilla plenty times in the match.
Vidic, who has won the Premier League five-times under United legend Sir Alex Fergusson, hopes that United get to witness their glory days once again. The former Serbian International won the Champions League in the 2007-2008 season, won the EFL cup thrice and the FIFA Club World Cup winner twice.
Vidic wished he could have played alongside the Chilean and feels that Sanchez's quality and experience can be the difference in United's stale performances so far as the former United skipper sees the desire in Sanchez's eyes for cup glory.
"I think he (Sanchez) is a top-player with a lot of quality. He has made a difference in the Premier League over the past few years. Personally, I would have loved for him to join earlier, to travel with the team during pre-season with the club," Vidic told reporters on the sidelines of The Football Movement hosted by Premier League and India On Track.
"But we did sign him in January, and he will surely contribute towards fighting for trophies, including the Champions League this season, added the Serbian stopper, who had made 211 appearances for the 'Red Devils'.
