Italy and Juventus captain Gianluigi Buffon will hold a news conference on Thursday when the goalkeeper is expected to announce his retirement. The 40-year old goalkeeper has been a loyal servant to Juventus and Italy as well.
Juventus released details of the conference to be held at Allianz Stadium, on Monday.
The 40-year-old Buffon helped Juventus win a record-extending seventh straight Serie A on Sunday, four days after he led Juventus to a fourth straight Italian Cup title.
Juventus concludes the season on Saturday at home against Hellas Verona.
Buffon was also an integral member of the Italy squad that won the 2006 World Cup. He announced his retirement from the national team in November when Italy lost a World Cup playoff to Sweden but recently returned for friendlies.
Buffon could bid the national team goodbye for good in a friendly on June 4 against the Netherlands at Allianz Stadium. After Italy were knocked out from the 2018 World Cup qualifiers, the Juventus keeper bid farewell.
