New Delhi, Oct 7: A woman athlete from Wales has alleged harassment by an unidentified worker inside the Commonwealth Games Village, saying he clicked her photograph on his mobile phone without persmission, police said today.
The Security Attache of the team approached the police station in the Games Village last night and lodged a complaint after which a case of harassment and wrongful confinement against an unknown person was registered.
"A case of harassment has been registered against unknown person after the complaint was made regarding the althlete's claim that someone took her photograph using a mobile phone," a senior police official said.
This is the first such complaint from an athlete participating in the Games.
The case has been registered under Sections 342 (wrongful confinement) and 509 (outraging the modesty of a woman with an act or gesture).
According to sources, the unknown man, likely to be a housekeeping staff, on Tuesday night tried to take her photograph while she was outside her room on third floor after which the athlete objected to it and ran into her room.
The unknown person also rushed to her room but finding it locked from inside, he knocked the door, they alleged.
The athlete informed team officials who asked the Security Attache to report the matter to police. PTI
