New Zealand, Jun26: Linda Villumsen, who contested the cycling road race at the 2008 Beijing Olympics for Denmark, was named Tuesday to compete in the same event at the London Games for her adopted country New Zealand.
The 27-year-old Villumsen, who rides professionally for the Australian-based GreenEdge team, finished fifth in Beijing before switching her allegiance to New Zealand in 2009. She took the silver medal in the time trial at the 2010 New Delhi Commonwealth Games.
European-based professionals Greg Henderson and Jack Bauer were named to contest the men's road race. Henderson, who will be competing at his fifth Olympics, rides for the Belgium-based Lotto-Belisol team while Bauer is based in Europe with the United States-owned Garmin-Barracuda team.
