Sao Paulo: Red Bull driver and four-time defending world champion Sebastian Vettel claimed pole position for the Brazilian Grand Prix, the final race of the Formula One season.
The German, who wrapped up this year's drivers' championship a few weeks ago, snagged the 45th pole of his career and ninth of this season with a time of 1:26.479 in Saturday's qualifying at the Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace in Sao Paulo's Interlagos district.
He will look to win his 13th race of the season Sunday, and extend his Formula One record for most consecutive victories to nine.
He will be joined on the first row by countryman Nico Rosberg, who drives for Mercedes, while Spanish Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso will start third after one of his best qualifying performances of the season.
Vettel's Red Bull teammate, Australian Mark Webber, will start fourth.
British McLaren driver Jenson Button, the defending champion of the Brazilian Grand Prix, will start a distant 15th.
