The honourable Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi has assured the denizens of the country that the preparations are underway in full swing to create an ideal infrastructure to stand a chance to host the 2036 edition of the Olympics on home soil. During his Independence Day address on Thursday, August 15, PM Modi assured the countrymen that India will have the best possible chance of hosting the spectacle in 2036.
PM Modi lavished praise on the athletes who made the country proud at the Paris Olympics and were also present at the Red Fort for the flag-hosting ceremony. He also extended his best wishes to the Indian contingent that will leave for Paris in a few days to participate in the Paralympics 2024 in Paris.
PM Narendra Modi says, "Today, we also have with us the youth who made the Indian flag fly high in the Olympics. On behalf of 140 crore countrymen, I congratulate all our athletes and players...In the next few days, a huge contingent of India will leave for Paris to participate in the Paralympics. I extend best wishes to all our Paralympians...India organising the G20 Summit on a large scale has proven that India has the capability to organise large-scale events...It is the dream of India to host the 2036 Olympics, we are making preparations for that..."
India's performance at the Paris Olympics 2024
The Indian athletes showcased a praiseworthy performance at the Paris Olympics in several sporting disciplines. Manu Bhaker was the most successful athlete for India at the Summer Games in Paris. She bagged a bronze to open India's account at the Games in the women's 10m Air Pistol category and backed it up with another bronze medal in the 10m Air Pistol mixed event alongside compatriot Sarabjot Singh.
India's third medal also came in shooting as Swapnil Kusale won another bronze in the 50m rifle 3 position. The Indian men's hockey team beat Spain in the bronze medal match to claim the third position and added another bronze medal to India's tally.
Star track and field athlete Neeraj Chopra won the only silver for India at the Games in men's javelin and wrestler Aman Sehrawat finished India's campaign with a bronze in the 50kg men's freestyle category.
