Paavo Nurmi Games 2024 Highlights: Neeraj Chopra bags Gold in Paavo Nurmi Games with 85.97m throw in Finland

And Chopra has added the Gold medal of the Paavo Nurmi Games. This is the first time he has won the Gold here. Chopra wins the Gold with his best throw of 85.97m which he achieved in his third attempt. Now he might be in action in the Paris Diamond League on July 7 otherwise, we will see him in the Paris Olympics. That was all from out side, see you!

Chopra is leading after the fifth round of the event. He is set to clinch the Gold medal today.

Germany's Max Dehning has been out of touch in this event. He has been far from his best. He breached the 90m this year but has not even touched 80m today. What an anticlimax this is

Finland's Toni Keränen is closing in on Neeraj. He has sent his third attempt close to 85 at 84.19m. Neeraj still in lead. Neeraj sends his Javelin to 82.21m in his 4th attempt.

The half stage of the event is done. Neeraj Chopra is at the top of the eight-man field. He has the best throw among his opponents at 85.97m. Oliver Helander is in second with a throw of 83.96m

Neeraj Chopra leads the eight-man field after the opening round of the event. He has the best throw of all at 83.62m with Finland's Toni Keränen on second with a throw of 82.59m

Anderson Peters has sent his first Javelin too and he is a little short of Neeraj in this attempt. Peters throws his spear at 83.58m

And the event is live now. Neeraj Chopra went first and has sent his Javelin to 83.62m to start the six-throw series.

We won't be able to see Neeraj Chopra and Pakistan's Arshad Nadeem on the same stage today as he has pulled out of this meet. Olympic silver medallist Jakub Vadlejch is also not part of this event.

After winning the Gold medal in the Tokyo 2021 Olympics, Indian star Neeraj Chopra had set his target at the 90m mark. But the Indian Javelin ace has not been able to hit the mark. He will be looking to do that as soon as he can.

After more than a month, Neeraj Chopra will make his return to a Javelin event as he gears up to feature in the Paavo Nurmi Games 2024 in Finland. Chopra missed out on the Ostrava Golden Spike athletics meet in Czechia last month as an injury precaution and would be raring to hit the ground running in Finland.
