Indian sportspersons Mohammed Siraj and Nikhat Zareen have been awarded Group-1 jobs in Hyderabad and plots by the Telangana government for their achievements in their respective sport. The bill for the same was passed today at the Vidhansabha session, confirmed Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy.

He had confirmed on Thursday (August 1) that a proposal will be presented in Vidhansabha to award jobs to the two talented athletes. Moreover, he was also surprised that the two-time world champion boxer was yet to be awarded a job having already brought laurels to the country.

"Siraj studied only up to Intermediate but has been able to reach heights," the CM said even as he pointed out that the cricketer was also part of the squad that won the T20 World Cup in June beating South Africa in the final. Siraj played the matches played in the USA but later Kuldeep Yadav was picked over him as the matches were played in the West Indies since the Super 8 round.

Siraj is currently with Team India on the Sri Lanka tour and is in action in the first ODI against the home team. He also played all the three matches in the T20I series which India won 3-0.

As for Nikhat Zareen, she is a two-time World Champion in Boxing and also competed at the Paris Olympics. She competed in the 50kg category round of 16 but lost to China's Wu Yu 5-0. She was outplayed in every aspect but that doesn't take away the fact that Zareen is a champion boxer. Apart from being the two-time world champion, Nikhat also won the bronze medal at the Asian Games in Hangzhou in the light flyweight category.
