San Diego, June 4: Olympian Meb Keflezighi won the Rock ‘n' Roll San Diego Half Marathon in 1 hour, 3 minutes, 11 seconds on Sunday for his second consecutive victory in his adopted hometown.
He beat fellow U.S. Olympian Ryan Hall, who struggled because of plantar fasciitis in his left foot and finished in 1:05:39.
Keflezighi and Hall also finished 1-2 in the U.S. Olympic marathon trials.
New Zealand Olympian Kim Smith won the women's half marathon in 1:08:37, a time that would have placed her seventh among the men.
Nixon Machichim of Kenya broke away with a little over two miles remaining and won the men's marathon in 2:10:03. Russia's Alevtina Ivanova also made a late burst and won the women's marathon in 2:27:44. The men's and women's marathon champions each earned $25,000.
