Greater Noida, Oct 25: Formula 1 driver Felipe Massa says it was time for repaying the faith Ferrari had shown in him by giving the Brazilian an extension at the Maranello outfit.

Ferrari last week decided to retain Massa following his second and fourth place finish in Japan and Korea.

"It is great stay to with Ferrari. It has been a long association with them (since 2006)," said Massa at a promotional event here Thursday ahead of the Oct 26-28 Indian Grand Prix.

He bagged his first podium at Suzuka since Nov 2010.

Reflecting on his lean run, Massa said: "If you look, I always had the opportunities to do better. But every time I was in a good position, something negative would happen. The second half of the season has seen the team going in the right direction and the car set-up feels right. I hope to end the season on a high."

His focus is on the making the team win the constructors' title and work closely with his title contender teammate Fernando Alonso. The Spaniard trails leader Sebastian Vettel by six points.

"We are very much in the hunt for winning the driver and team championships. Things look good for us in 2013 but right now the aim help the team achieve the desired goals in 2012," said the 31-year-old.

Talking about the Indian Grand Prix, he said he expected the car to work better at the Buddh International Circuit than the last round in Korea.

"Like most drivers, I love the track's layout. It is a high-speed circuit with some challenging corners. I am confident out car will fare better than Korea. And it is nice to know that a turn has been named after me," said Massa referring to turn eight, which caused his accident in the inaugural edition.
