New Delhi, July 7: The Indian Olympic Association's elections will be delayed by a month because the International Olympic Committee's input to a new constitution will not be ready to meet the initial schedule.
India was suspended by the IOC in December after the IOA conducted elections declared illegal by the IOC as they were held based on a government sports code and not in accordance with its own constitution
The initial deadline for amending the constitution was July 15 but the IOC has written to the IOA saying the world body would send its inputs by mid-August, thus delaying new elections which were meant to be held by September 1.
The IOC says the election would now be held between September 22 and 28.
