New Delhi: Indian Olympic Association has finally amended its Constitution as per directives of the International Olympic Committee, removing Abhay Singh Chautala and Lalit Bhanot from the posts of president and secretary general. It has also decided to bar them from contesting the IOA elections scheduled to be held on February 9, 2014.
The resolution was passed today unanimously at the IOA's Special General Meeting. The decision will be conveyed to the IOC this evening or tomorrow morning.
This means IOC will lift India's suspension from the Olympic movement in its executive committee meeting in Laussane.
Now India will get back to Olympic movement on December 10th when IOC recommends lifting of India's suspension from Olympic movement to its executive committee in Lausanne on December 10th.
Ironically, it was Abhay Singh Chautala who proposed the amendment and Lalit Bhanot seconded it.
