Indian shooter Namanveer Brar, who won a bronze medal at the 2015 World University Games in South Korea, allegedly committed suicided at his residence in Chandigarh on Monday morning, reported The Tribune.
The 28-year-old double-trap shooter finished fourth in this year's Delhi Shooting World Cup.
Namanveer reportedly shot himself in the head with a licensed revolver early Monday morning. His parents and pregnant wife were present at the residence at the time of the incident. He was also reported to be in distress.
City's senior police official was quoted as saying by The Tribune that it is yet to be ascertained why Namanveer decided to take his life.
“The exact reason behind the extreme step is not clear yet. His postmortem was conducted at the Phase 6 Civil Hospital and the body handed over to the kin,” DSP Gursher Singh Sandhu said.
