Gurgaon: India has the potential to produce many Mary Koms, the Asian Games gold medal winning boxer from Manipur said Sunday.
Mary Kom said she was working hard to win a gold at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She had won a bronze at the 2012 London games.
The five-time world amateur boxing champion was speaking to the media at the Tau Devi Lal Sports Stadium here during the annual sports day of the Rabindranath World School.
Mary Kom urged Prime Minister Narender Modi to allot her a plot of land in Delhi and the National Capital Region so that she can set up a boxing academy.
"Although I am doing my best to give tips to upcoming women boxers, we can do much better in an academy," she said.
