Guwahati, Feb 2: India bagged the gold medal in the eight nation International Endurance Ride held in Upper Assam's Dibrugarh district today.

India's Ramesh Kumar won the gold with South Africa's Zuber Master winning the silver and Miller Collman Natalie bagging the bronze.

The eight countries that participated in the Championship, held under the aegis of Equestrian Federation of India and hosted by Equestrian Federation of Assam, include the United Kingdom, South Africa, Germany, Switzerland, Australia, Thailand, Canada and India.

The 60 km ride was held in three loops of 20 km each and all International riders participated on horses selected and provided by the Equestrian Federation of India.

The selection of horses was done based on the results of the Senior Nationals which were held earlier on 29th and 30th of December 2012.

Brian Dunn from Great Britain was the President of the ground Jury and technical delegate for the event.

Endurance is an ultimate test of fitness and stamina of both the rider and the horse and those failing to recover within the specified time and to pass the fitness test, after each 20 km loop, are eliminated and are not allowed to continue.
