Johannesburg: WADA President John Fahey says he is confident that cycling's new leadership will set up an independent commission "within weeks" to look at the sport's drug-stained past.

   




Fahey says his World Anti-Doping Agency has been in communication with new UCI President John Cookson since the Briton took over in September, and the UCI has indicated its wish to WADA "to get something going."
   
Fahey says he is confident "it will happen within weeks rather than within months."
   
Fahey said on Tuesday at the World Conference on Doping in Sport that he also would meet with Cookson on Wednesday in Johannesburg and while there's work to be done, "the goodwill appears to be there."
   
Banned rider Lance Armstrong has also called for a commission
