Glasgow: The 20th edition of Commonwealth Games at Glasgow is over and India finished at 5th position with 64 medals in total including 15 Gold, 30 Silver and 19 Bronze medals.
However the final tally is less as compared to CWG Delhi 2010 where India finished with 101 medals in total. The Indian contingent in CWG 2014 was also less than 2010 where it was more than 400 but in 2014 there were only 215.
India witnessed many historical moments in 2014. Squash duo Joshana Chinappa and Dipika Pallikal gave India its first Gold medal in the event while Ace shuttler Parupalli Kashyap won first Gold medal in Badminton Men's singles event in 32 years. The last medal was won by legendary Prakash Padukone in 1982.
There were huge hopes on Indian men's hockey team for gold medal. They faced Australia again in CWG Hockey finals after 2010 when they were humiliated by 8-0 defeat but in 2014 they lost by just half, 4-0.
Shooting and Wrestling were the events in which Indian contingent won maximum medals.
