Coimbatore: Probably for the first time in India, dope testing has been introduced in college sports, with Bharathiar University, Coimbatore conducting dope testing of all athletes taking part in the Inter collegiate Sports meet here.
This dope testing is being conducted by NADA (national anti dope testing agency) which is recognized by the world anti dope testing agency (WADA).
Mohammed Nizamuddin, Asian Games medal winner and Indian coach for London Paralympics 2012 said in his 30 years of experience in sports, he had never seen such an initiative taken by any institution at the college level. "This will create more awareness about the pitfalls of doping among budding athletes", he added.
