Sydney: Melbourne Storm fullback Cooper Cronk has won the Dally M Medal as player of the year in the National Rugby League.
Cronk finished the seasonlong voting by media with 28 points, two more than fellow playmakers Daly Cherry-Evans, Johnathan Thurston and Todd Carney. Media voted on a 3-2-1 points basis for each match of the season.
The awards ceremony on Tuesday was co-hosted by actor Russell Crowe, a part-owner of the South Sydney Rabbitohs.
The Dally M is named in honor of Australian rugby league great Herbert Henry “Dally” Messenger.
Trent Robinson, the first-year coach of the Sydney Roosters who will play Manly in Sunday's grand final, was named coach of the year.
South Sydney prop George Burgess, one of four English brothers playing for the Rabbitohs, was voted rookie of the year.
