Incheon: The Indian men's volleyball team lost its first play-off group E match against South Korea 0-3 in the 17th Asian Games at the Songnim Gymnasium here on Sunday.
India put up a fight but their valiant effort was not enough to secure victory as they went down 22-25, 25-27, 18-25 in an hour and 16 minutes.
Gurinder Singh and Jacob Manidurai were India's highest scorers with 13 and 10 points respectively but they were outscored by South Korea's Kwangin Jeon, the highest scorer of the match with 19.
India play Qatar in their final group E play-off match Monday while South Korea take on Iran in the other group play-off.
India had won two of their three preliminary round matches, beating Hong Kong 3-1 (23-25, 25-28, 25-26,25-21), Maldives 3-0 (25-10, 25-19, 25-17) but losing to Iran (22-25,22-25, 18-25) to qualify for the play-offs.
