Lovlina Borgohain faced a defeat in the semifinals of the 69kg category in the World Boxing Championships, as she lost to China's Yang Liu. Earlier, Mary Kom and Jamuna Boro also settled for a bronze medal, while Manju Rani entered the final in the 48kg category.
Borgohain found a wily opponent in Liu. The Chinese boxer had a definitive reach advantage and she made it count with her jabs.
Borgohain did well in counter-attacks but Liu claimed the upperhand with her more forcefully-struck punches.
The Indian boxer defeated Karolina Koszewska from Poland by 4-1 in the quarterfinal of the boxing championships.
