Professional car racer Ashiwn Sundar and his wife, Nivedhitha, were charred to death this morning after their car crashed and caught fire in Chennai.
The incident took place at around 3:30 am when Sundar’s BMW rammed into a roadside car on Santhome High road of the city.
According to police, Sundar and Nivedhitha were trapped inside the car as they were unable to open the doors.
The fire engulfed the entire car, police said, adding that passerby, who witnessed the accident, captured the video and informed the police.
The couple was returning from dinner and Sundar was driving the car, police said.
The fire officials and police broke open the car and found the body of the couple. The bodies have been sent to the Government Royapettah hospital for post-mortem, police said.
The duo lived in Alapakkam near Porur.
