A national level shooter has accused her coach of spiking her drink and raping her, police said here today.
Police said that an FIR was registered at the Chanakyapuri police station on Thursday against the shooter’s coach.
The accused is an Arjuna Award winning Indian shooter himself, a report in the Hindustan Times said.
The crime allegedly took place on the shooter’s birthday on November 12 inside government quarters where the player lives alone, Hindustan Times quoted police officer as sayings.
“We have registered a case of rape and investigation will be carried out as per law, MK Meena, Special CP, said today.
According to the complaint filed by the player, she was being trained by the coach for the past seven to eight months at Karni Singh shooting range located in south Delhi.
During the period, the two allegedly came close and he allegedly promised to marry her.
Reportedly, the coach frequently visited the shooter who stays alone at Chanakyapuri.
In the complaint, the woman alleged that on her birthday on November 12, she had invited her coach for a party during which he offered a spiked soft drink to her which she consumed and became semi-conscious. The coach then allegedly forced himself on her.
On regaining consciousness, she confronted him. He pacified her with a promise that they would get married soon.
He later backtracked on his promise, the complainant said.
The player then approached Chanakyapuri police and lodged a complaint against the coach.
“Her medical examination was conducted at a government hospital and the FIR was registered. A local NGO has been roped in for her counselling,” a police officer said.
